Dr. Brindusa Dragoi

Project Coordinator

Dr. Brindusa Dragoi is the project coordinator (PC) and she will lead the work package 2 (ERA-Chair holder recruitment) and jointly with PM and MSM, the work package 1 (Management). She obtained her PhD in Chemistry at the Université “Claude Bernard” Lyon 1 (Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse, currently, IRCELYON), France, in 2007. For ~ 17 years, the scientific interest was consequently focused on (i) the study of the surface reactivity of silica-based nanomaterials (i.e., mesoporous silica, zeolites, layered double hydroxides, etc.) and (ii) the design and development of nanocatalysts supported on ordered mesoporous materials (e.g. SBA-15 silica) and layered double hydroxides (LDH). Since 2018, she joined the TRANSCEND at the Regional Institute of Oncology, Iasi (IRO), Iasi where she transfers the know-how in nanomaterials to nanomedicine area.

Prof. Radu Iliescu

Prof. Radu Iliescu is the Manager of the project (PM) and he will lead the work package 1 (Management) jointly with PC and MSM. He obtained his PhD in Medicine in 2005 at the Max Delbruck Molecular Medicine Centre in Berlin, Germany. He is Professor of Pharmacology at the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Iasi and scientific researcher at the TRANSCEND, Regional Institute of Oncology, Iasi. He is also Affiliate Assistant Professor at the Department of Physiology of the University of Mississippi Medical Centre in Jackson, MS, USA, where he obtained research grants as principal investigator or collaborator from the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health. Since 2020, he is the vice-rector for Institutional Strategy at the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iasi. His scientific expertise is on cardiovascular physiology and pathology.

Prof. Eugen Carasevici

Medical Scientific Manager

Prof. Eugen Carasevici is the Medical Scientific Manager (MSM) of the project and he will lead the work package 5 (Building the organizational structure for innovation and research management) and jointly with PC and PM, the work package 1 (Management). He obtained his PhD in Medicine in 1983 at the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi, Romania. Currently, he is professor emeritus at the same university and senior research consultant at the TRANSCEND, Regional Institute of Oncology, Iasi. He has a broad experience in two specialties, oncology and immunology and coordinated many research projects funded by national and European bodies. Prof Carasevici is the founder of the Laboratory of Tumour Immunology at the St. Spiridon University Hospital (1986), Iasi and the Department of Immunology at the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi (1992). He is also the technical and scientific responsible of the TRANSCEND project by which the current research center was built.
