Dr. Habil. Ciprian Iliescu is nominated as ERA-Chair on Nanomedicine of the ESEI-BioMed project

Dr. Habil. Ciprian Iliescu received his BS degree and PhD degree in Mechanical Technology from Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 1989 and 1999, respectively. While pursuing his PhD degree, he worked at Baneasa S.A and made a spinoff with his PhD work. Between 2001 and 2003 he worked as Postdoctoral Fellow at the Micromachines Centre, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Between 2003 and 2017 he has been with the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, A-STAR Singapore as one of the pioneers of the institute. He continued and developed his research at the interface between microelectromechanical systems, chemistry and biology. He has been visiting PI at IMT Bucharest where he set up the "Micro and Nanofluidic lab". Between 2017 and 2019 he has been Senior Scientist with BIGHEART (Biomedical Institute for Global Health Research and Technology), National University of Singapore involved in the start-up of the institute. Since 2019 he is with IMT Bucharest. Dr. Iliescu published his work in reputational journals such as: Science Translational Medicine, Biomaterials, Trends in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry of Materials, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, Analytical Chemistry and Lab on a Chip. He has two US and EU granted patents and one Romanian patent. His research interest is on nanomedicine, liquid biopsy, micro-physiological systems, Point-of-care testing and transdermal drug delivery. Dr Iliescu is “Member of Honour” of the Academy of Romanian Scientists.
